Real Wedding: Aimée & Gordon, Foxhill Manor, 3rd July 2021

There are many reasons why we love being a part of the Wedding Industry;
for one it’s an industry brimming and bursting with LOVE.
But then, there’s the comradery and loyal support and help you receive from fellow suppliers that makes you feel like you aren’t a small, 2 woman band; you’re part of something massive. Wonderfully massive in fact.

Then there’s the couples we meet, bonds we build…
and in Aimée’s case, friendships we form that will last way beyond their wedding day.

Aimée and Gordon landed in our inbox and immediately filled us with that warm fuzzy feeling.
Waaay back when in 2019, in the days before we charged for our bespoke, deluxe sample packs, we received an enquiry gushing about how much they loved our website and Instagram, and how much would it cost for a sample pack…

Never before had anyone offered to buy one, so straight away we thought… we like you!
Aimée was warm, excited and had all the anticipation we adore in a potential new client…

Stationery was clearly important to her, and those are our fave kinda Brides to be!

Aimée and Gordon knew what they wanted, but needed us to bring it to life and pull it all together.
Aimée was born in New Zealand before moving to Scotland when she was 6 and Gordon is a full blown,
born and bred Scot.
Gordon had Aimee’s bespoke engagement ring made, featuring a fern and thistle (swoooooon) so it was clear that their heritage was to be a huge part of their wedding journey; so this was our starting point.

We took inspiration from the ring and created a bespoke monogram that ultimately became the focal point for every piece of stationery. When we create something like a monogram for a wedding, it almost becomes the couples branding… and Aimée and Gordon’s will go down in history as one of our favourites.

We worked on everything;
Save the Dates, Invitations and the biggest list of
Day stationery to date!

The Save the Dates featured a hand drawing of the Fern and Thistle, layered with hot silver foiling on a soft warm off white card. They screamed luxury… so the momentum was building for some seriously epic invitations!

Unsurprisingly, Aimée wanted Pocketfolds;
our most luxurious, elegant & opulent style…
No stone was left unturned in terms of luxury extras, they had everything:

They were truly stunning and soon became our most requested and admired invitation suite…

Then, as with so many of our lovely couples…
The pandemic struck and cast that huge shadow of doubt over whether Aimée and Gordon’s Big Day
would go ahead… Especially as New Zealand and Scotland had some of the strictest restrictions, the guest list had to be right for them.

We lived the turmoil with so many of our couples, but for Aimée and Gordon we really felt the heartache they were going through, keeping everything crossed for them that their date would coincide with Boris’s latest easing of restrictions.

Never has a announcement been so anticipated; we got the green light and it meant we had an incredibly small window to produce the biggest spec of day stationery in Retro’s history!
***insert heavy sweating and mild panic!

Nothing was off limits for this wedding,
Aimée & Gordon wanted the full works;

Aimée & Gordon didn’t make this wedding just for them;
it was full friends and family affair & something we feel truly blessed to have been a part of.

They enlisted the ultimate in a wedding planner and stylist in
Valentina from The Star inside,
who undoubtedly deserves a tremendous amount of credit for creating what is absolutely one of the most beautiful weddings we’ve ever seen.

Val thought of everything and was there for Aimée and Gordon every step of the way;
so if you need someone who you can guarantee will build you the ultimate of wedding days –
hit Val up!

Then, they chose the photographers of ALL photographers, the incredible Rebecca Carpenter,
who has such an iconic and unique photography style that’s undeniable.

Rebecca didn’t only capture Aimée an Gordon beautifully, but she photographed EVERY last detail of their
Big Day, nothing was forgotten and from a suppliers perspective, you couldn’t ask for more from a wedding photographer. For us especially, who aren’t typically there on the day (for Aimée … we were!) … having your work captured in situ is the best gift we could get after working with a couple.

Again – if you want the best of the best; Rebecca is your girl, and you should get in touch!

When we say Aimée & Gordon thought of everything; they really did…

There was a games area, corn hole being the game of choice,
a little touch from Aimée as when Gordon proposed when they were on holiday in the US, they went on from the proposal and played this game (cute right?!).

There was a whisky tasting area in the cellar, again with Gordon being a true Scot this warmed everyone’s hearts (in more ways than one we’re sure!),
there was a vegan ice-cream tuk tuk outside at the front of the venue and s’mores at night time for the kids…
there was just so much.
It was just incredible.

We could continue writing this blog for hours, there is so much to talk about.
But we’ll leave the gushing there.

Aimée and Gordons wedding was our first “proper” wedding of 2021 post pandemic restrictions,
(more then 15 people etc) and what a wedding it was.
We, as many suppliers felt, were in a tough place mentally after losing 90% of work due to covid, and Aimée and Gordons wedding well and truly got our mojo back and will stay in our hearts forever as possibly the best wedding we’ve ever been a part of.
They rekindled the spark that we were heartbroken to have lost, so thank you
Aimée and Gordon for choosing Retro Press, we’ll be forever grateful.

A&G-325.jpg

One last note goes out to Aimée, for being one of the kindest, loveliest brides we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Aimée you are thoughtful, sweet and kind to your core.
We have loved working with you and getting to know…
even to the point of being asked by you to be there on the morning of the wedding so you
could thank us in person.

We want to thank you, for just being you.
You were the most beautiful bride Aimée,
inside and out.

A&G-1828.jpg

Here’s to you and that rugged Scot of yours;
we wish you a lifetime of sheer happiness.
xXx
